We are a direct importer of Ecuadorian plantation teak (Tectona grandis) with roughly 10,000 saleable board feet on hand in Lincolnwood, Illinois. Most of our lumber goes to cabinet and furniture shops, but a good share of it is exactly what a maker needs: short, clear, heartwood-dominant boards in usable widths that can go in a parcel box and be at your bench in a few days.

What makes teak worth using in small work

Teak is a dense, oily hardwood with fine, straight grain and a color that runs from honey to deep brown, darkening with age and exposure. The natural oil content is why it takes a hand-rubbed finish so well and why it holds up in daily-handled objects. It machines cleanly, but its silica content dulls edges faster than domestic hardwoods; keep carbide on the saw and expect to touch up plane irons and chisels more often.

Our boards are heartwood-dominant on both faces. That matters for scales and cutting boards, where a sapwood streak on the show face is a defect, not character.

We make no NHLA grade claim — grade it yourself at our dock, or ask us to describe the boards in a specific parcel before it ships.
No minimum order. One board is an order.

Knife scales and handle blocks

Short Stock in the narrower widths yields scale pairs from a single board, so both halves come from the same grain and color. Tell us the finished scale size and we will pick boards that resaw into matched pairs with clean margins.

Cutting board and box blanks

Edge-grain boards glue up straight from the 4 to 7 inch widths; end-grain boards take well to the ¾ inch and 1 inch thicknesses cut into strips. For boxes, the Face-Frame class gives you long, narrow stock for sides and lids without ripping down a wide board.

Turning

Teak turns cleanly and polishes off the tool. Short Stock in 1 inch thickness is the usual starting point for lidded boxes, pens and small bowls glued up in laminations.

How ordering works

Browse the short stock or the full lumber collection. Retail prices are published on each product page; trade and volume pricing is quoted separately and is materially different.
If you want boards picked to a purpose, tell us the project. We tally at loading, and the tally with your representative present governs the invoice; for parcel orders, we send the tally with the shipment.
Short Stock ships by parcel nationwide. Longer classes go by freight, quoted to your address.
If you are in the Chicago area, will-call is free by appointment at our Lincolnwood dock, and you inspect and choose before you pay.

Resale certificates accepted (Illinois CRT-61 or state equivalent) for makers who sell their work. W-9 on request.

Straight answers

Is this the same teak used in fine furniture? Yes. Tectona grandis, plantation-grown in Ecuador.
Will you cut to size? We sell boards as dimensioned stock. We will select boards to suit a stated cut list, but we do not mill custom parts.
Can I see it first? In person at the dock by appointment. Remotely, ask and we will photograph the specific boards for your parcel.
